North America’s professional shifter kart series brings extreme kart racing to the Portland, Ore. area this
weekend. The Superkarts! USA ProMoto Tour has awed race fans young and
old, with some of the tightest racing in the world of motorsports for
nearly a decade. The last national showdown of SKUSA’s
2003 West zone tour will be staged at Pat’s Acres Racing Complex.
More than 100 of the nation’s best shifter kart pilots ranging from 12 to 60 years old will be on hand vying for
generous prize packages ($15,000 plus in total) in seven pro classes.
Three exhibition classes are also planned by race hosts, Chris and Lisa Egger for the event plus
a Celebrity VIP race organized by SKUSA.
Exhibition classes
include Formula Novice KX60, a Powder Puff (Women of the PMT), and a Kid
Kart exhibition. These classes are staged allowing the regional, amateur and women involved in the PMT
an opportunity to shine before large crowds and series regulars.
If all goes as planned, David Jurca can clinch the Flatout Gaskets
Pro-IC West Zone title for the Italian Motors Team with TM engine power. Jurca has a pair of wins from round two at Infineon and round
four at Texas Motor Speedway after slipping
through a hole to take the win on the final lap. Top five consistencies
has been Jurca’s key where he also scored a fifth and fourth in round
one and three, giving him a 131 point lead going into the Oregon event.
It is not impossible; however, for Dyer, Martin or Elliott to take over
and win the championship. Second through fourth are separated by only 61
points of each other and all three have no intention of second place. As
true competitors, they are going for the win, making Jurca’s journey
all the more difficult to secure.
Tyler Dueck who regularly compete's
in the ICA class will be competing in his first ever shifter event.
He is optimistic after his impressive drive which he placed third in the
first CART Stars of Tomorrow Race in Button Willow, California.
Tanner Coles will be competing in the
competitive S1 category and will familarize himself with the TM Moto
powerplant which brought great success to the Italian Motors Team in the
Super Pro category.
