Italkart captures two victories in Stars opener

Hayden Duerson was the lone ICC driver for Italkart last weekend. A Florida resident, Hayden was able to grab 3rd spot in Qualifying only seven one hundredths off of pole! Duerson was able to capture two top six finishes in the heat races setting him up for a solid grid position for the finals.

The finals would prove very challenging as Duerson encountered a few technical problems. The 2007 Stars of Karting rookie of the year finished 14th in the first final and a top ten in the second final. Hayden Duerson will be absent for the Utah Western Championship Race but will be back on his Italkart at the Race of America’s.

Returning to the Stars of Karting after a serious accident last year, Remo Ruscitti, the sole Junior driver for Italkart was faced with stiff competition in the JICA field. In Qualifying – Remo put in a great time to land him fifth spot. The heat races went very well for Ruscitti. Avoiding trouble Remo rounded out the heats with a seventh, third and fourth respectively.

The first final was a wet race where Remo would shine. Starting the final in the top five, Ruscitti’s wet weather experience would thrive. Battling his way up through the field the young pilot would go on to win his first ever Stars of Karting event. Ruscitti would carry on his success into the second final putting in a solid top 5 finish.

Stars TaG

For 2008, Hayden Ritter made the jump from JICA to Stars TaG aboard his Italkart/Iame Leopard package. The field was unbelievably close with the top 30 competitors only separated by eight tenths. Ritter, only seven tenths off pole found himself in 26th. The heats were full of action and unfortunately Hayden found himself in the middle with no place to go.

Rain would settle in for the final and Hayden was able to put in very solid race. Climbing his way up through the grid Ritter went on to finish 14th in the first final and 15th in the second final, a strong weekend for the young Italkart driver in the highly competitive TAG class.

The inaugural run for the TAG ICC class hit the track in Ocala. Italkart had two entrants Michael Hogg and Don Mcgregor. The two drivers maintained a very competitive pace throughout the weekend. Hogg was able to capture the poll Sunday with Don close behind in third spot. Hogg had a very successful run in the heats finishing all three in the top three while Mcgregor claimed two second place finishes.

The finals would be extremely wet with Michael Hogg leading the way. Putting in a stellar drive he would go on to win his first ever Stars of Karting win. For the second final the top three remained very close. Hogg put in an exceptional drive going on to win the second final. Don Mcgregor was faced with unfortunate luck and found himself just out of the top five. Both drivers will be back in action come Utah for the first race of the Western division.
