June 06, 2008 Italkart adds two more victories in Stars campaign![]() ![]() The Italkart factory racing team returns from New Castle after a triumphant weekend in the Snap-on Stars of Karting. Despite horrendous weather delaying the event, Italkart was able to cap off the weekend with great results including two victories. In ICC, it was David Jurca making his return under the tent for the first time in 2008 along with Hayden Duerson who missed the Utah event. Both drivers were quick Friday and carried the speed into qualifying where Jurca placed 4th and Duerson 6th. After the heats the drivers would maintain top ten starting positions for the finals. In the first final both drivers were able to put in impressive drives. Jurca was able to take the lead but was passed with only a few laps remaining to finish second. Duerson was in a heated battle to remain in the top ten and captured 9th. The second final would prove even more successful as Duerson was able to make up several spots and grab the sixth spot. Jurca had a great start and moved his way up to the front and eventually into the lead where he would remain capturing a tremendous victory aboard his Italkart/TM package. JICA East Championship point’s leader, Remo Ruscitti looked to maintain momentum arriving in Indiana. Qualifying was down to the wire with the top ten separated by less than half a second. Ruscitti would find himself in the 9th position. Claiming fastest lap in both heat races along with a second and sixth place finish, Ruscitti bumped himself up to a 4th place starting position for both Finals. Ruscitti was able to get a great start in the first final, unfortunately a fellow competitor forced Ruscitti to the outside where he lost several positions but still finished in the 9th position. The second final would find Ruscitti right in the thick of the battle. Trading positions throughout the race Ruscitti would cross the line in 7th. The competition continues to build in the TM TaG ICC class as several experienced shifter kart drivers were added to the fold in Indiana. Michael Hogg and Don Mcgregor were the Italkart entrants and continued to find more speed throughout the weekend. Hogg and Mcgregor were able to qualify near the front of the pack at 4th and 6th respectively. Both drivers were able to maintain positions in the heats setting the scene for a very competitive drive for the final. Hogg and Mcgregor both opted to go with used tires for the first final – the strategy paid off for Hogg as he was able to maintain position and finish in 4th meanwhile Mcgregor lost a few positions finishing in 8th. With new rubber for both Italkart pilots in the final, Hogg and Mcgregor both got off to great starts. It was not long until Hogg was able to take the outright lead and put in his best drive of the season finishing on the top step of the podium. Mcgregor was also able to make headway as he rounded out the top five. The Italkart factory team will be back on track when the Snap-on Stars of Karting travels to Shawano for the second round of the Eastern Championship.
